Rivers court extends order barring police from arresting Fubara’s CoS

Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, on Tuesday, extended the temporary injunction preventing the police and other security agencies from apprehending the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Edison Ehie, until the resolution of the main case.

Presiding judge, Justice Sika Aprioku gave the directive following complaints from Ehie’s lawyer, Demian Okoro, SAN.

Okoro had told the court that despite the interim injunction served on the police, they had gone ahead to declare his client wanted.

Aprioku, who cited Order 4 Rule 4c of the Administration of Criminal Justice, said it gave him the power to renew and extend orders ‘where the application is made experte.”

The judge, who also ruled on the application for extension of time by respondent lawyer, Celestine Dickson, gave three days extension for the lawyer to respond to the process and two days for the applicant to file his reply.

Justice Aprioku then adjourned the matter till February 15, 2024 for hearing of the substantive suit.
