Presidential election tribunal: Judge calls on lawyers to avoid technicalities


…for speedy dispensation of Justice

Justice Haruna Simon Tsamani, the presiding Jugde of the Presidential the Presidential Election Petition Court ( PEPC ) sitting at the Main Court of the Court of Appeal in Abuja made the call at the opening of the seating of the Court for the 2023 General elections.

The Judge who is also a Judge of the Abuja Division of the Court said, ” I am calling on the Lawyers who will appear at the Court to avoid unnecessary delays like technicalities and other things that delay the dispensation of Justice.

“I call on all of us to work for the growth and development of our country, Nigeria and not to commit acts that would detail the peace of the country.” He said.

Justice Haruna Simon Tsamani appeals for the General public to come to the court and witness the proceedings for the benefit of all.

He called on Journalists to avoid sensationalizing the proceedings.

The other judges are, Justices Stephen Jonah Ada, Misturat Bello Yusuf, Okwu and Abba Mohammed.

Similarly, Journalists and Lawyers had a hectic day before they gained entrance to the Court be the stern looking Police personnel.

But, before the proceedings, a court Registrar has beg for forgiveness for the delay in opening the courtroom which caused a commission after it was opened.

The Politicians that witnessed the opening session are Mr Peter Gregory Obi of Labour Party, Barrister Simon Bako Lalong, Governor of Plateau State and Director General of defunct All Progressives Congress, Presidential Campaign Council, ( APC-PCC, Secretary of INEC, Chairman of Labour Party, Chairman of APGA amongst others.

Proceedings will continue tomorrow.

Summarily, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and Labour Party, ( LP) are challenging the declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has won the Presidential Election with 8.8 million votes to defeat Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 6.9 million, Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) who amassed 6.1 million and 15 others.
