Political Turmoil in Rivers: Fubara announces probe into state governance

In a dramatic turn of events, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has declared his intention to launch a thorough investigation into the governance of the state. This announcement comes amidst escalating political tensions and a perceived inability to resolve the crisis plaguing the oil-rich state.

Governor Fubara made the revelation on Monday following the swearing-in ceremony of Dagogo Iboroma as the new Attorney General of the state.

The confirmation of Iboroma, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), by the Victor Oko-Jumbo-led House of Assembly, preceded the governor’s declaration.

Expressing the gravity of the situation, Governor Fubara emphasized the dire need for intervention, asserting that the ongoing political crisis has reached an impasse. He lamented the deliberate sabotage of his administration by political adversaries, signaling a departure from his earlier hopes of amicable resolution.

In a bold stance, Governor Fubara pledged to take decisive action moving forward, regardless of the discomfort it may cause.

He addressed criticisms from former Attorney General Zacchaeus Adangor (SAN) and Ministry of Works counterpart Alabo George-Kelly, accusing them of hindering the state’s progress.

Governor Fubara condemned Adangor’s alleged sabotage, citing the filing of nolle prosequi against the state’s interests.

Additionally, he responded to George-Kelly’s remarks, refuting claims that his promotion to Level 14 was unjustified. The governor affirmed his trajectory within the civil service, underscoring his current mandate as a testament to divine providence.

As the political landscape in Rivers State continues to evolve, Governor Fubara’s probe into state governance signals a pivotal moment in the state’s history, with far-reaching implications for its future.
