Police arrest suspect as one dies over cult clash in Ogun

Police in Ogun State have arrested one Ishola Joshua over a cult clash in Bode Olude, Abeokuta North Local Government Area of the state, resulting in the death of one Segun otherwise known as Ojo Ibo.

A distress call was received by the police that a group of cult boys were causing chaos at Bode Olude Junction which led to the arrest of the suspect.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed this to newsmen in a statement on Wednesday in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Odutola said upon receiving the information, the patrol team went directly to the scene and found the deceased lying in the pool of blood with his right wrist slashed by the cult boys.

She explained that some cult boys numbering about six arrived at the junction on three motorcycles and chased the deceased with a gun before killing him.

The Police PRO explained that the incident created panic among members of the public some muttered courage and caught one of the boys identified as Ishola Joseph, of number 10 Owu Baptist Church Totoro, Abeokuta.

She said, “A distress call was received indicating that a group of cult boys were causing chaos at Bode Olude Junction. Upon receiving this information, the patrol team quickly arrived at the scene.

“They found a man named Segun, also known as Ojo Ibo, lying in a pool of blood with his right wrist slashed by the cult boys. There were about six boys present, who arrived at the junction on three motorcycles and chased the deceased with a gun, creating panic among the public.

“Fortunately, one of the culprits was caught by brave members of the public and identified as Ishola Joseph ‘M’ of 10 Owu Baptist Church Totoro ABK.

“The area was combed with the assistance of ACPOL Patrol Team and Anti-Cultism Team, and the deceased’s photo was taken with the body deposited at Ijaiye State Hospital ABK.”

Odutola said that the case was currently under investigation by DCB, and any further updates would be communicated.
