Prof. Uchenna Ikonne, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate for governor in Abia State, has passed away.
His son, Dr. Uche-Ikonne Chikezie, made the announcement of his passing in a statement on Wednesday.
The PDP governorship candidate passed away this morning, January 25, 2023, at around 4 a.m., according to the younger Ikonne. At Abuja’s National Hospital, he passed away.
The statement read in part, “He was recovering after taking proper treatment in the United Kingdom but relapsed a few days ago leading to multiple cardiac arrests for which he didn’t recover from.
“Further details and arrangements would be made known to the public after deliberations and meetings are made within the family.”
