Oromoni Junior’s death: Lagos govt orders indefinite closure of Dowen College

The Lagos State Government on Friday ordered the indefinite closure of Dowen College in the Lekki area over the controversial death of a student of the school, Sylvester Oromoni Junior.

The closure is pending the outcome of an investigation into the death of the 12-year-old  junior class student.

A statement issued on Friday and by the Assistant Director, Public Affairs, of the Lagos State Ministry of Education, Ganiu Lawal, quoted the state Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, ordering for the closure of the school after a meeting with the college management and staff.

The commissioner called for calm, assuring that no effort will be spared in unravelling the root cause of the incident.

Recall that a viral report on social media on Wednesday, December 1, claimed that Oromoni Jnr died following the beatings he received from some students of the school. fo.
