Operation HADARIN DAJI: Troops neutralize 10 terrorists, rescue 9 kidnap victims in Katsina, Zamfara

In a significant success against terrorism and kidnapping activities, the troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI, part of the Joint Task Force North West, have reported the neutralization of 10 terrorists and the rescue of 9 kidnap victims in coordinated operations in Katsina and Zamfara states.

The recent dry season clearance operations, under the command of Major General Godwin Mutkut, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division Nigerian Army, yielded commendable results.

On January 3, 2024, the combined troops conducted an offensive operation in identified terrorist enclaves at Batsari and Safana LGAs of Katsina state. During the operation, 10 terrorists were neutralized, and others fled with gunshot wounds. The recovered items included 1 AK-47 Rifle, ammunition, 7 Dane guns, 3 locally fabricated guns, communication gadgets, mobile phones, military uniforms, and 4 motorcycles, which were recovered and destroyed on-site.

Simultaneously, troops in Zamfara state executed a search and rescue operation at Dansadau and Dandalla villages in Maru LGA. The operation led to the successful rescue of 9 victims, comprising 5 women and 4 babies, who had been kidnapped. The terrorists abandoned the victims after a gun duel with the resilient troops. The rescued individuals were promptly reunited with their families at Magami.

Major General Godwin Mutkut, the Commander Joint Task Force North West Operation HADARIN DAJI, commended the troops for their exceptional efforts and urged them to maintain the momentum in the ongoing fight against terrorism and criminal activities in the region.

The successful operations underscore the commitment of the security forces to ensuring the safety and security of citizens in the North West.
