Ooni preaches love, unity as he clocks 6 on throne

The Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, has implored Yoruba people to embrace love and unity to overcome the challenges and division created by religion and politics.

The first class monarch spoke on Tuesday during his sixth-year coronation anniversary, describing Yoruba as a leading tribe among others in the world.

His words, “In whatever we do, we must be conscious of the fact that we are being watched by others and we cannot afford to let the world down, especially those looking up to us for leadership.”

While calling for unity, the Ooni kicked against divisive measures occasioned by politics and religious differences.

He praised almighty God for the grace of six years on the throne, saying it showed mercy of God on the Yoruba people.

He added that there were moments when he was confronted by challenges which were defeated through the love and support of his subjects.

He also assured Yoruba people of tireless efforts to ensure unity and promotion of the race.
