Ondo 2024: Aiyedatiwa warns civil servants to eschew partisan politics

Ahead of the governorship election in Ondo State, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on Tuesday, warned civil servants in the state against dabbling in partisan politics.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed the Ondo gubernatorial poll for November 16, 2024.

Aiyedatiwa, however, maintained that politicians should not see the forthcoming poll as a battle field or a “do-or-die affair.”

The Governor stated this on Tuesday during the annual prayer organised by civil servants in the state to mark the commencement of the first working day of the year.

He further maintained that the peace of the state is not negotiable, hence the game must be played by the rules.

“This is an election year; let everyone know that the peace of the state is not negotiable and the election is not a do-or-die affair.”

Meanwhile, the governor disclosed that, to address the existing gaps in the healthcare system of the state, health workers will be recruited.

While stating that the measure will strengthen the health sector of the state, he stressed that the approval for the recruitment had already been granted, adding that the existing vacancies within the sector will be filled.

The governor commended the public servants in the state for their unwavering cooperation with the government and expressed his appreciation to organised labour for their support.
