Ohaneze Ndigbo meets Nnamdi Kanu in DSS custody

The leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, held a significant meeting on Thursday with Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The meeting took place at the Headquarters of the Directorate of State Services (DSS) in Abuja.

Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, President of Ohaneze Ndigbo, led the delegation that entered the DSS Complex at approximately 1:05 PM.

While the detailed outcomes of the meeting have not been officially disclosed, it is understood that the discussion focused on the ongoing sit-at-home order in commemoration of Biafra Heroes Day.

The sit-at-home order, declared by IPOB, has led to significant disruptions in parts of the South-East region. This commemoration day is observed to honor those who lost their lives during the Nigerian Civil War, also known as the Biafran War, which occurred from 1967 to 1970.

The impact of the sit-at-home order has been widely felt, with businesses, schools, and public institutions remaining closed in adherence to the directive.

The meeting between Ohaneze Ndigbo and Nnamdi Kanu is seen as a critical step towards addressing the ongoing tensions and finding a peaceful resolution to the issues affecting the South-East region.

Chief Iwuanyanwu’s involvement underscores the importance of dialogue and negotiation in addressing the concerns of the Igbo community and the broader implications of the Biafra movement.

As the details of the meeting emerge, it is anticipated that further steps will be taken to address the grievances and demands of the IPOB while ensuring peace and stability in the region.

The role of Ohaneze Ndigbo in facilitating this dialogue highlights their commitment to representing the interests of the Igbo people and working towards a harmonious resolution of conflicts.
