Ogun Gov, IGP Egbetokun, others storm Lagos for 8th “Yewa Talks Series”


…as YDF installs Senator Adeola-YAYI Grand Patron

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun and other prominent Yewa sons and daughters will on Saturday, May 11 besiege Lagos for the 8th Edition of the “Yewa Talks Series.”

This was disclosed in a statement by the Yewaland Development Forum (YDF) Public Relations Officer, Mr. Jide Amusan, on behalf of the President of Union, Lagos, Ogbeni Wasiu’Niyi Fagbohun.

During the YDF Talk Series, the statement also said, the Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI) will also be unveiled as the Grand Patron of the organisation.

It further stated that the Board of Trustees and Executive Council of Yewaland Development Forum (YDF), formerly known as Yewa Union, Lagos, described the socio-cultural organisation as being committed to the holistic development of Yewaland for many years by articulating policies and implementing social intervention programmes to tackle issues of poverty and under-development in the area.

The body provides a common platform for accomplished professionals of Yewa origin to converge and proffer solutions to the challenges hampering development in the area.

This year’s edition of ‘Yewa Talk Series’ will therefore hold at the Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, on Saturday, May 11, 2024.

On the occasion, Governor Abiodun will be the Distinguished Special Guest of Honour, while the Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Kayode Egbetokun is the Special Guest of Honour.

Chairman of the occasion will be
Senator Felix Kola Bajomo while the former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof. Rahman Bello will be the Chief Host.

The statement added that the Paramount Ruler of Yewaland & Olu of Ilaro, Oba (Dr.) Kehinde Olugbenle, will be the Royal Father of the Day.

Minister of State for Environment, Dr. Iziaq ‘Kunle Salako, will deliver a lecture on the theme: ‘Harnessing Our Potentials and Opportunities Towards 2027 and Beyond’.

The statement noted that the choice of Dr. Kunle Salako as Guest Lecturer at the event is strategic and significant in many ways. He is a proud Yewa man, who has for many years, committed himself to the issues of development in Yewaland and as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he is at a vantage position to do justice to the topic and draw global attention to Yewaland’s huge human and natural resources.

Other very significant programme of the event is the investiture of Senator (Aremo) Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, YAYI as the Grand Patron of Yewaland Development Forum. The investiture is reflective of the hopes and desires of millions of Yewa indigenes at home and in the Diaspora. It is both symbolic and prophetic and also a token of appreciation for the unprecedented human capital and infrastructural development efforts the distinguished Senator has brought to Ogunwest, particularly, Yewaland.

It is also a practical demonstration and attestation of the Yewa peoples unwavering commitment to YAYI’s socio-political development agenda for the future of Ogun State, the statement added.
