The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has refuted reports suggesting that its President-General, Prof George Obiozor, was dead.
There had been widespread media reports (not by The Nation) that Obiozor had died of heart-related ailments.
But, speaking with our correspondent on the telephone, the spokesman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr. Alex Ogbonnia, said Obiozor was alive.
Ogbonnia said: “Whatever I tell you is the truth and official. The man is alive. He is not dead.”
There had widespread concern over the well-being of Prof. Obiozor since Boxing Day.
Obiozor, an octogenarian, has reportedly been ill and unable to sustain regular public appearances.
One of his aides simply said: “I do not know anything.”
