Obasanjo woos investors in DRC-Nigeria Business Council to boost economic growth


…as Nigeria office opens in Lagos

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has wooed local and foreign investors to engage the newly established Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)-Nigeria Business Council to boost economic cooperation and the growth of both countries.

A newly established Nigeria office of the Council is located in Ikeja, Lagos State, for investors from both countries to enjoy and strengthen economic ties and growth of the two African nations.

But Obasanjo who disclosed this on Wednesday in a release by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, said his visit to the Business Council in Lagos on Tuesday, showed that the council had what it takes to offer local and foreign investors interested.

He said the council could serve willing investors from both African countries as ” potentials are abound in the Central African region of the continent”, noting that with its administrative office future councils would soon be floated across the region.

Amb. Leke Adebiyi, Secretary of the council, disclosed that to facilitate the initiative, the Nigerian Office of the Council opened the office located at 11B Rev. Ogunbiyi Street GRA Ikeja.

“This office will serve as a hub for interested parties to gather further details and information about potential business and investment opportunities between the two countries.”

Ogunbiyi Street GRA Ikeja.

“The DRC-Nigeria Business Council is committed to driving economic development and collaboration between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Nigeria, and we look forward to welcoming new members and partners to contribute to this important endeavor”, he said.

The DRC-Nigeria Business Council was established to promote business and investment activities between investors from the Democratic Republic of Congo and Nigeria in 2022. It was founded at the behest of former President Obasanjo of Nigeria and President Felix Tshisekedi of DRC, with the aim of fostering economic cooperation and growth between the two countries.” he added.
