NYSC clarifies shutdown of Batch B registration portal

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has clarified the closure of its registration portal for Batch B prospective corps members on Saturday, June 8.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Eddy Megwa, the NYSC Director of Information and Public Relations, clarified that the portal was closed after the maximum number of registrations required for the upcoming batch was reached.

“We apologize to prospective corps members who could not register before the portal was shut down,” Megwa stated.

“The portal will reopen for Batch B Stream II on a date to be announced later.”

The NYSC also addressed the circulation of a false press release online, which misleadingly claimed an extension of the registration deadline.

The organization warned that any individuals caught disseminating or fabricating such information would face prosecution.

“The management of NYSC wishes to inform prospective corps members that the registration portal was shut down due to a glitch that occurred on Saturday, June 8, 2024,” Megwa elaborated.

“Registration continued until we reached the maximum number required for the incoming batch, in line with the carrying capacity of the 37 NYSC Orientation Camps nationwide. The portal was subsequently shut down accordingly.”

Megwa urged online reporters and bloggers to verify information with NYSC before publishing to avoid the spread of false information.

“Criminally-minded individuals who have the penchant of issuing fake press releases on NYSC operations are warned to desist forthwith, as anyone caught will be handed over to law enforcement agents for prosecution.”

Prospective corps members are advised to stay updated through official NYSC channels for the announcement of the new registration date for Batch B Stream II.
