Newly elected Pan-African youth leader returns to rousing welcome

Ambassador Oladele Nihi, the newly elected Pan-African Youth Vice President, arrived Nigeria on Wednesday night to a rousing welcome.

Nihi was returning home from the just-concluded Extraordinary Elective Congress of the Pan-African Youth Union (PYU), in Niamey, Niger Republic, where he emerged Vice President of the body.

The youth leader, who arrived at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja, expressed delight at the rousing reception accorded to him by hundreds of jubilating youths.

The Pan-Africa vice president, who was visiting Nigeria after his victorious outing in Niamey , had as part of his entourage the head of delegation from Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports Development, Hajiya Amina Mohammed; Public Relations Officer National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Comrade Omoyele Adedotun and a host of other youth leaders and government functionaries.

Speaking with newsmen on arrival, Nihi, who said he was grateful for his safe return, expressed appreciation to other African countries who voted for him in Niamey.

According to him, Nigerians should continue to do the things that endear them to the international community and make the country proud.

He said, ”I think that we should continue to do the kinds of things that makes us acceptable to others, do our bit for the international community and great things for our country.

”I’m happy that the support of all colleagues has gotten us to a good start.”

Speaking earlier, the Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare, who was represented by a director in the ministry, expressed delight over the emergence of Nihi as the Vice president of Pan-Africa Youth Union.

Dare said he was happy that Nigerian youths were taking the bull by the horns and would no longer occupy the back seat in international affairs.

The newly elected Pan-African Youth Union Vice President will be in charge of West Africa region for a period of three years.
