Minimum Wage Deadlock: FG offers N62,000, Labour reduces demand to N250,000, talks stall

The Federal Government has made an upward adjustment to its proposed new national minimum wage, raising it to N62,000, while organized labour has moderated its demand from N494,000 to N250,000.

This move comes amid ongoing negotiations between the government, organized labour, and the private sector regarding the new minimum wage.

However, despite the revised offer from the government and the moderated demand from organized labour, no consensus was reached during the latest meeting of the Tripartite Committee on New National Minimum Wage.

As a result, the committee has adjourned its session.

The organized private sector has expressed support for the government’s revised offer of N62,000.

This development highlights the ongoing deliberations and negotiations aimed at reaching a mutually acceptable minimum wage figure that balances the interests of workers, employers, and the government.
