Mercy Eke Laments: “I have over N100m in Heritage Bank’

After the Central Bank of Nigeria revoked Heritage Bank’s operating license, Reality TV star Mercy Eke has appealed for assistance, revealing she holds over N100 million in her account with the bank.

She cited the bank’s sponsorship of the fourth edition of Big Brother Naija, which she won, as the reason for opening the account.

Eke also criticized her account manager for persuading her to invest her money with the bank despite being aware of its issues.

Via her X account on the 6th of June, 2024, she wrote: “I really don’t know how to react about this … I have been hoping for the best .. thinking there’s a way out…. Hash tag HeritageBank.”

A curious fan under her comment section said: “Omg Lambo hope you don’t have acct with them?”

“I do… and have above 100m with them,” Eke replied.

“Why did you open an account with them in the first place?”Another fan asked.

“That was the bank that sponsored Bbn during my set, for them to pay our money we were advised to open an account with them… stupid me went ahead and funded the account … don’t worry I’m full of regrets right now,” she said.

Another online follower asked, “What is your account manager saying?”

“She lured me into fixing my money, knowing fully well there’s been issues with the bank … I don’t have words for her, I blame myself,” the Reality TV Star responded.

However, Eke revealed that she has taken steps to reclaim her funds by notifying the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Commission.

The NDIC has initiated the liquidation of Heritage Bank, starting with verifying and reimbursing depositors, prioritizing those with balances of N5 million and less.
