Late arrival of election materials mar Sokoto supplementary polls

Late arrival of electoral materials has marred the supplementary National Assembly elections in the Sokoto State.

The lawmaker representing Dange/Shuni, Tureta, Bodinga Federal constituency, Dr Balarabe Kakale, told newsmen at JSS polling unit 017 in the Shuni Area of the state that he was disappointed at the action of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Kakale said following INEC’s assurance to Nigerians, the electoral umpire had failed to show commitment to conducting a free, fair and credible rerun.

The lawmaker said the election should have commenced by 8:am, but election materials were delayed at polling units.

“You know billions of naira were voted for INEC for this election but look at what is happening, even their ad-hoc staff were not properly trained,” he stated.

He said they have registered their protest to INEC, adding that the trend is discouraging.

Kakale implored INEC to allow the votes of the electorates to count.
