Kidnapping in Belel: Monarch raises alarm, alleges Miyetti Allah Chair in Adamawa impersonates police, defrauds people

The District Head of Belel, who is the Dan Lawan Mubi Emirate Council, Alhaji Abubakar Murtala, has alleged that one Alhaji Ja’uji, Adamawa Miyetti Chairman, has collected over N20million from people on behalf of the police over kidnapping activities.

The Monarch narrated an unfortunate incident that happened a few weeks ago in the Belel community, where a syndicate group of kidnappers carried out their nefarious activities on so many people who were later arrested by members of vigilantes and hunters.

The suspects according to him were manhandled and one of them died because of that incident the Miyetti Allah Chairman used began to extort money from individuals and groups that he was sent by the commissioner of police to do so.

“He collected about two million four hundred thousand naira in the name of Adamawa State commissioner of police, this I can confirm.” He Said

He worried that the people of the community are angry about the matter and there was a looming protest from concerned citizens.

When contacted by the Adamawa State Command Police public relations officer SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje said they are investigating the matter in all urgency.

He called on the general public to give useful information on any security issues as the CP operates an open-door policy.

He urged the public to report any matter to the nearest police station as the command is not slow in tackling insecurity issues in the state.
