Kidnappers demand N70m for Nasarawa ex-deputy gov’s release

The abductors of a former deputy governor of Nasarawa State, Professor Onje Gye- Wado, have demanded N70 million ransom to set him free.

A family source said on Saturday in Lafia, the state capital, that the kidnappers made a call to the family for the first time since the ex-deputy governor’s abduction on Friday.

Onje Gye-Wado was kidnapped on Friday morning in Gwagi village of Wamba Local Government Area by unknown gunmen.

But the source said the family members had been pleading with the abductors to accept N2 million instead of the N70 million that was requested because of the unavailability of cash occasioned by the Easter holiday.
