How gunmen killed Babcock University professor, abduct two in Ogun

In a tragic incident in the Iperu area of Ogun State, gunmen have taken the life of Professor Yinka Olomojobi, a respected law professor at Babcock University, and abducted two others.

Professor Olomojobi reportedly met his untimely demise on Friday when he refused to comply with the demands of the assailants. Additionally, two residents were forcefully abducted during the harrowing ordeal.

According to Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, one suspect has been apprehended in connection with the incident.

She stated, “A two-week-old security man was arrested based on reasonable suspicion as police commence a discreet investigation.”

The tragic event unfolded at the Ajadeh Event Centre on Sagamu Road, where eyewitnesses described a horrifying scene.

Eight armed men, dressed in black, stormed the venue and unleashed gunfire indiscriminately. Prof. Olomojobi bravely resisted the assailants, resulting in his fatal shooting in the chest. Additionally, a car stand manager identified as Dare and another individual were forcefully taken by the gunmen.

The Ogun State Police Command has launched a thorough investigation into the incident, with efforts underway to apprehend the perpetrators and secure the release of the kidnapped victims. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
