How gunmen abduct principal, pregnant woman, three others in Ondo

A principal, Joshua Adeyemi, and four other persons, including a pregnant woman were on Thursday abducted by gunmen along the Auga/Ise-Akoko Road in Akoko North-East Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Those abducted with Adeyemi, the principal of Auga Community Grammar School, include his vice, Ifedayo Yesufu, and three other teachers in the school.

The gunmen, FirstNews learnt, abducted the victims at gunpoint afternoon of Thursday while they were travelling in a Toyota Corolla.

They were then taken into the forest, but one of the victims, a pregnant lady – Blessing Okeke, was freed due to her condition after she had trekked for over one hour in the forest.

It was Okeke that informed the families of the victims, who in turn reported the incident to the police.

The incident was confirmed by the spokesperson of Ondo State Police Command, DSP Funmilayo Odunlami.

According to Odunlami, a team of policemen has since been deployed to the area and has been combing the forest and the entire vicinity to free the remaining four victims and arrest their abductors.
