Super Eagles coach Finidi George has urged Nigerian fans to stay positive about the team’s chances of qualifying for the World Cup, even after a tough 2-1 loss to Benin Republic in their World Cup qualifier on Monday.

After the match, Finidi said the team can still win games and asked fans not to lose hope. He admitted that the team needs to improve and promised to work on better strategies.

“We want to win, but there’s no special formula for it,” Finidi said.

“We need to see how the players start the new season and figure out how to get the best out of them.”

He added, “Everyone must be committed. With that commitment, we’ll win games. I believe we’re going to win games. If we can win games, we’re still in the fight. We can’t give up just because we only have three points. We need to find a way to get these players back.”

Nigeria is currently fifth in the standings and could drop to sixth if Zimbabwe wins their game in hand, making it look like another failed World Cup qualifying campaign.

Despite this, Finidi remains hopeful. “We can still fight to qualify for the World Cup despite the loss. Our focus now is on regrouping and making the necessary adjustments. We urge the fans to stick with us through this tough period.”

The Super Eagles still have a chance, and Finidi’s words aim to keep the fans believing in the team.
