Finally, Buhari acknowledges need to change service chiefs

President Muhammadu Buhari has finally agreed that service chiefs in the country need to be changed.

Buhari, while reacting to the release of the 344 schoolboys abducted from a Katsina boarding school, in an interview with NTA, expressed worries over the security situation in the country, saying he hoped that 2021 would be different.

“I am extremely worried about insecurity and I hope next year will be different. Those among the law enforcement agencies that will remain in charge will be extremely busy,” he said.

Speaking on the performance of the law enforcement agencies amid rising insecurity, Buhari also said, “Their effort is not good enough, but we will keep on trying.”

The President also thanked Governor Bello Masari of Katsina State and the intelligence agencies for the historic release of 344 schoolboys kidnapped by Boko Haram from a boarding school in Kankara, last Friday.

Buhari, who said this in a tweet, noted that the release of the abducted boys was a great relief to the entire country and the international community at large.

The President tweeted, “I welcome the release of the kidnapped students of Government Science Secondary School, Kankara.

“This is a huge relief to the entire country and the international community. The entire country is grateful to Governor Masari, the intelligence agencies, the military and the Police.

“Our administration is fully aware of the responsibility we have to protect the lives and properties of all Nigerians.

“I ask Nigerians to be patient and fair to us as we deal with the challenges of security, the economy, and corruption. We will not relent.”
