#EndSARS: Policemen, soldiers deployed around Lekki toll gate plaza

Armed soldiers and policemen on Monday morning stormed the Lekki toll gate plaza in an apparent move to forestall a fresh round of #EndSARS protests in Lagos State.

It was gathered that the soldiers and policemen were deployed around the Lekki toll gate plaza midnight on Sunday.

Police authorities in the state had on Sunday warned against any form of protest in any part of the state, vowing to crush any attempt by anyone or group to resuscitate the #EndSARS protests.

Also, military and the central police authorities had warned several times last week that they would not allow another round of protests to take place.

The #EndSARS protests, which took place in October, were hijacked by hoodlums leading to the destruction of properties and loss of lives in Lagos and other parts of the country.

The protests became bloody in Lagos on October 20, 2020, when soldiers opened fire on young protesters at the Lekki toll plaza, an epicentre of the protests in Lagos.

Thousands of prisoners were also set free during the riots that followed.

State Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Muyiwa Adejobi, did not answer calls made to his phone on Monday morning.
