No fewer than eight persons are feared dead and many others sustained varying degrees of injury when two commercial vehicles stepped on landmines along Ngala-Dikwa road in Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State.
The incident reportedly occurred around 10:30 am around Kinewba village in Ngala.
The landmine attack reportedly happened about 115 kilometers away from Maiduguri, the state capital.
According to a security source, the two vehicles involved in the incident were damaged beyond repairs.
The vehicles were said to have left Ngala around 900:am while the incident occurred about 15 kilometers away.
Eight persons, including two children were feared dead and several others were critically wounded in the landmines blast.
A top civilian JTF source said the two vehicles, an Izuzu van and a lorry, stepped on the bomb and nearly all the passengers feared dead.
Recall that Governor Babagana Zulum had plied the route two days earlier when he went on a humanitarian visit to Ngala.
