The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abuja Zonal Command, made a significant breakthrough on Wednesday, May 23, 2024, with the arrest of 26 suspected internet fraudsters in New Nyanya, Nasarawa State.
The commission disclosed this in a post on its X handle on Monday.
It said the operation was conducted based on actionable intelligence pointing to their alleged involvement in fraudulent internet activities.
During the operation, the EFCC operatives seized crucial items from the suspects, including over 30 phones and 3 laptops. These items are believed to have been used in facilitating their illicit online activities.
According to the EFCC, the arrested individuals will face charges in court as soon as investigations are concluded.
This arrest underscores the agency’s commitment to combating cybercrime and ensuring that perpetrators face the full wrath of the law.
