EFCC grills ex-Kwara gov, Abdulfatah Ahmed

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission are currently quizzing a former governor of Kwara State, Abdulfatah Ahmed, over shady transactions running into billions of naira during his tenure.

On Monday morning, Ahmed was seen arriving at the Ilorin office of the anti-graft agency.

EFCC had invited him and he is currently answering questions relating to how his administration spent public funds.

Ahmed was governor of Kwara State between May 2011 and May 2019. He handed over to the incumbent Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

In May 2021, Ahmed was interrogated by a crack team of operatives at the EFCC headquarters in the Jabi area of Abuja, the nation’s capital, in connection with the alleged diversion of funds totalling N9 billion from the coffers of the Kwara State Government.

The money was allegedly diverted during Ahmed’s tenure as governor of the state, and while he served as the Commissioner for Finance in the administration of ex-governor Bukola Saraki.
