EFCC arrests, detains ex-Power Minister Sale Mamman over alleged fraud

According to competent sources, Sale Mamman, a former Minister of Power, was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) early on Wednesday.

Mamman is currently being detained at the EFCC headquarters in connection with the commission’s ongoing investigation into alleged corruption in the execution of power projects.

It has been alleged that Mamman conspired with staff in charge of the accounts for the Zungeru and Mambilla Hydro Electric Power projects and diverted money, which they shared amongst themselves.

Sources close to the investigation have indicated that properties linked to the suspects have been uncovered in Nigeria and overseas, which were allegedly acquired with the proceeds of the corruption.

Additionally, millions of Naira and United States Dollars have been recovered.

As of now, the Spokesman for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, has not commented on this latest development.
