Edo PDP crisis: I was here defending Gov. Obaseki, but today I’m his victim – Anslem Ojezua

Ben Peters, Abuja

A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party and a governorship aspirant of the party in Edo State, Anslem Ojezua, has expressed his displeasure over the handling of party affairs amid preparations for party primaries.

Speaking on Channels TV, Ojezua recalled how he once defended Governor Obaseki before becoming his ‘victim’.

Addressing the topic, Ojezua said, “It is such an irony. The last time I sat with you, I was here defending Governor Obaseki, but today I am his victim. Is that not irony? I do not know if I am the one who disagreed with him or vice versa. Of course I consulted him about my intention to run for governor and he seemed quite receptive. He also advised me on how to proceed.

He added, “At some point, the government even made promises on how he would support me. I do not know when things went wrong, but it is a question that he will answer someday. I have seen him since then, but I have not really bothered to have a conversation with him. I am somewhat surprised that he is not backing me, but it is the way of the world. That is human nature for you.
