Edo Assembly Speaker recieves NSCDC boss, pledges more collaboration

Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly and member-elect, Esan West, Esan Central and Igueben Federal constituency of the House of Representatives , Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun, has commended the state Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for its capacity and commitment in stamping out crime and criminality across the state.

Onobun stated this when he received a delegation from the Edo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps led by the state Commandant, Dr. Dan Okon.

The familiarisation visit is the first by the state Commandant, Dan Okon since his assumption of office in April 2022.

Receiving the delegation, the Speaker and member elect ,Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun said the visibility, orderliness and conduct of officers of the NSCDC in the state has boosted the security architecture of the state government.


The Speaker commended the proactive nature of officers of the NSCDC just as he tasked them on intelligence gathering and partnership with sister security agencies to achieve it’s mandate of securing the lives and property of citizens and critical national assets in their areas of operation.
He assured of partnering with the state command of the NSCDC to achieve their mandate.


On his part, Edo State Commandant of the NSCDC Dr. Dan Okon said the state command of the NSCDC has a mandate of ensuring a twenty -four hour surveillance of critical government infrastructure, disaster management, licencing of security guards amongst others .
He said the familiarisation visit to the state House of Assembly is to seek areas of partnership and collaboration with the parliament to meet set targets.


On hand to receive the delegation from the NSCDC were Member representing Esan North East Constituency one, Francis Okiye, Member representing Orhionmwon East, Nosayaba Okunbor ,Dep. Leader of the House Sunday Ojieze , Clerk Audu Yayaha Omogbai and Director Speaker’s Office, Mr George Aitomun.
