Don’t compromise standards in choosing your cabinet, NCYP tells Tinubu

… felicitates president-elect on Eid-el-Fitr

A group, Northern Christian Youth Professionals, on Friday, called on the President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, not to compromise on standard in constituting members of his cabinet.

NCYP said Nigerians voted Tinubu in as President because of his reputation for maintaining high standards regarding his choice of people who work with him in government.

The group in a statement titled, “Appointments, don’t compromise’, signed by its Chairman, Isaac Abrak, to felicitate Tinubu on Eid-el-Fitr, said Nigerians are not expecting any lower standard from Tinubu but rather an improvement as he constitutes his cabinet from May 29, 2023.

The NCYP noted that although Tinubu will be taking over the nation’s presidency at a time Nigerians have been stretched to breaking point by both economic and security hardships, it warned that the country can no longer afford to be stretched beyond limits.

It, therefore, argued that Tinubu can only successfully stir the ship of Nigeria safely if only the President-elect could put together a team “with the character of selfless service and and spirit of patriotism” like he did throughout his eight -year tenure as governor in Lagos State.

The NCYP also wished all Nigerians, Muslims and the president-elect a happy Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

21st April 2023, Abuja Nigeria

Northern Christian Youth Professionals Wishes President Elect Bola Ahmed Happy Eid-el-fitri Celebration.

Theme: Appointments, Don’t Compromise Merit

The Northern Christian Youth Professionals (NCYP) wishes to extend our heartfelt greetings and felicitations to President Elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the occasion of Eid-el-fitri. We recognize that this celebration comes at a historic moment in his life and in the history of Nigeria as he takes the baton to become the President just after the month of Ramadan, a time when Muslims engage in spiritual exercise that brings them closer to Allah and in love for mankind.

As we celebrate with Tinubu, we remind him that he was elected by Nigerians because of his legacy as Lagos state governor, where he provided good governance to all the people of Lagos. Tinubu transformed Lagos into one of the biggest economies in Africa because he assembled a team of people who understood his God-given call for service to humanity. This cabinet was made up of Nigerians drawn from all ethnic and religious backgrounds based on merit.

We strongly remind the President Elect not to compromise on this standard as he chooses his kitchen cabinet, advisers, and other government principals. This standard is what Nigerians voted for in him, and they do not expect anything less but even better.

The NCYP recognizes that Tinubu’s presidency is coming at a time when the Nigerian people have been stretched by economic and security hardships to the highest limit. As such, the country cannot afford to be stretched beyond its elastici limit. Thus, only a team with the character of selfless service and spirirt of patriotism like that of Tinubu’s days in the Lagos government can hit the ground running, improving the living conditions of all Nigerians, uniting the country, and setting it on the path of transforming into the great nation envisioned by our founding fathers.

The NCYP also wishes all Muslims a happy Eid-el-Fitri celebration and enjoins all Nigerians to pray for the President Elect and also for a smooth and peaceful transition of Government on May 29th.

Signed,
Isaac Abrak
Chairman, Northern Christian Youth Professionals (NCYP)
