National vice-chairman (South-South) of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Dan Osi Orbih, has said that the struggle for a better Edo State and a more democratic system is continuous.
Orbih, who leads the legacy PDP in Edo state, said in a post-elections “thank-you” pitch, on Sunday, that “we have laid a strong foundation with the just concluded National Assembly and state House of Assembly elections in Edo state.
“You (apparently referring to all who are not happy with the government of Godwin Obaseki) have shown your dissatisfaction with the state of affairs in our dear state.
“It is expected that the outcome will reshape governance in the state. Edo state can be better. Let’s keep Hope alive.
“Thank you for showing up to be counted.
“God bless you, God bless Edo State.”
He signed off simply as “CHIEF DAN OSI ORBIH.”
Recall that the Orbih-led Legacy PDP admitted Governor Obaseki into the PDP and yielded the party’s platform to him to seek re-election when the APC edged him out of its primary election.
Immediately Obaseki became Governor, just as he did after Comrade Adams Oshiomhole ensured he became Governor in 2016 by fighting him (Oshiomhole), moved against the legacy PDP.
Obaseki set machinery in motion to appropriate total control of the PDP structure, but was resisted by the Orbih-led Legacy PDP.
Both groups had produced their lists of candidates for National Assembly and State House of Assembly candidates from their respective primary election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had to wait fir the Supreme Court to determine which of the list of candidates to admit aa authentic.
The apex court’s verdict had favoured the Obaseki group.
The PDP had gone into the last election hugely divided and the outcomes for the Obaseki-led PDP have been calamitous.
