COVID-19: Nigeria records 599 more infections, one new death

Data on update of COVID-19 cases posted on the Facebook page of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Wednesday, showed that the country recorded 599 fresh cases on Tuesday.

NCDC also noted that one more patient died from the pandemic.

The agency said that the fresh cases were reported from 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The data showed Delta State recording 194 fresh cases followed by Edo and the FCT recording 94 and 80 cases respectively.

The NCDC, however, said that the 194 cases reported in Delta State comprise 191 infections recorded between December 13 and 26, as well as three cases logged on December 27.

Cases from other states showed Kaduna – 48, Lagos – 35, Ondo – 23, Kano – 21, Rivers – 20, Kwara – 20, Ogun – 18, Plateau – 12, Abia – eight, Cross River – eight, Ekiti – six, and Bauchi – three.

Osun and Sokoto states recorded no new cases.

With the fresh reported cases, Nigeria has now confirmed a total of 239,019 cases of the pandemic.

Out of the recorded cases, 213,180 recovered from the disease, while 3,027 died as a result of the infection in the 36 states of the country and the FCT.

 

Currently, there are 22,803 COVID-19 patients still battling the virus in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, samples of 3,823,309 Nigerians have been collected and tested of the virus according to NCDC.
