The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Vice Adm. Awwal Gambo, has inaugurated some projects at NNS Jubilee, Ikot Abasi in Akwa Ibom and urged personnel to take ownership of the facilities and ensure proper maintenance.
Gambo, who inaugurated the sports complex, remodelling of officers’ mess and officers’ quarters to serve as transit accommodation, emphasised the need for proper maintenance of the facilities.
He asked them to see the projects as belonging to them as it was done to enhance their welfare and operational environment.
He charged the officers to ensure that only disciplined and people of proven integrity were allowed honorary membership of the mess.
“Make use of the mess very well and get very responsible people to be honorary members. Don’t go and bring people of questionable characters, people doing illegalities to be members.
“People will get your membership and go and flank your card and you will be surprised what they are doing with the membership card of your mess,” Gambo advised.
The Commander NNS Jubilee, Commodore Olubode Fazaz, said the projects would enhance personnel efficiency and improve productivity.
He commended the CNS for the support given to NNS Jubilee to ensure timely completion of the projects, ensuring that there will be proper maintenance of all the projects.

“We also witness the inauguration of a sports complex for officers and men of the NNS Jubilee and the officers’ mess that has just been remodelled.

“We thanked him so much for finding time to come today to inaugurate these projects, these are actions that will encourage us to do more, and we will also do more. To whom much is given much is also expected,” he said.
