Buhari visits Borno amid multiple explosions in Maiduguri

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday landed in Maiduguri amid the multiple explosions that rocked the Borno State capital earlier in the day.

Buhari travelled to the North-East state to commission some projects.

There were fears that the president may not be able to go ahead with his planned visit to the state after three explosions rocked the city a few hours before his arrival.

No fewer than four persons lost their lives, eight others reportedly sustained various degrees of injuries in the explosions that rocked Ayaje and Bulumkutu. There was no casualty report in the explosion at Ajilari as at when this report was filed.

Meanwhile, Buhari is expected to commission an edifice donated by Mohammed Indimi to the University of Maiduguri as well as some projects executed by the Borno State government including a 10km dual carriageway, a flyover, and a mega secondary school.

A presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, also said that the president would receive first-hand reports from the Nigerian troops fighting Boko Haram terrorists in the Northeast region during the visit.
