Suspected bandits have shot dead a member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Alhaji Ridwanu Aminu Gadagau, representing Giwa West.
Gadagau was among the travellers killed along Kaduna-Zaria highway on Monday night.
Until his death, the lawmaker served as the Chairman House Committee on Local Government.
Bandits had on Monday night operated in the area for three, abducting many passengers.
It was learnt that the lawmaker’s body was recovered from a nearby bush where it was dumped.
Confirming the incident, Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Yusuf Ibrahim Zailani, described the lawmaker’s death as devastating.
The Speaker’s Special Assistant Media and Publicity, Ibrahim Dahiru Danfulani, in a statement, described Gadagau’s death as tragic and painful.
“We are in deep grief over this sad incident. Our prayers at this time goes to his immediate family. Honourable Gadagau was a young and dynamic lawmaker, who had a passion for his constituency, state and Nigeria. We will miss his vibrant contributions,” he said.
Kaduna Assembly Speaker also commiserated with families of others killed during the attack.
