Bandits kill village head, eight others in Katsina attack

In a tragic incident, bandits struck Kuka Babangida village in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing at least nine residents, including the village head, Idris Haruna.

The attack occurred in the early hours of Thursday, lasting until around 1:30 am. The bandits reportedly went from house to house, searching for valuables, including money.

The victims included the village head, his four children, and four others.

Katsina State Commissioner for Internal Security, Nasiru Muazu, emphasized the state’s commitment to protecting lives and property.

This incident follows a previous attack where bandits killed six traders en route to a local market.

Former Secretary to the Katsina State Government, Alhaji Inuwa Mustapha, urged North-Western governors to collaboratively address banditry, emphasizing that individual state efforts are insufficient.

He called for a coordinated, simultaneous operation against bandits with Federal Government support.
