APC Chieftain Asserts: No merger can halt Tinubu’s eight years

Yekini Nabena, a former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has boldly declared that President Bola Tinubu will serve two terms, totaling eight years, despite talks of mergers and opposition plots to thwart his presidency.

Nabena’s assertion comes amidst swirling discussions of a potential merger and the formation of a mega party by opposition factions aimed at challenging Tinubu’s tenure in 2027.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday, Nabena underscored the unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s unity, stressing that divisive politics, particularly within Southern Nigeria, must be put to rest.

He stated, “Not even the talk of a mega party or merger can stop him. The South will not fight each other again for another region to benefit. The era of division in Southern Nigeria is gone for good.”

Nabena expressed optimism that ongoing reforms would yield tangible results before the next election, compelling detractors to accept defeat prior to the polls.

Furthermore, Nabena extended his unwavering support to Senator Godswill Akpabio, the incumbent President of the Senate, amidst controversy surrounding the suspension of a Senator over alleged budget padding.

He affirmed, “The same goes for the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio. He will also complete his term as the Chairman of the National Assembly in grand style. No threat, blackmail or political machination will do otherwise.”

Nabena concluded by affirming the satisfaction of Nigerians from the South with the representation provided by their elected officials in the National Assembly, issuing a vote of confidence in their steadfastness.
