Alleged Terrorism: Tukur Mamu seeks transfer to Kuje prison amid claims of medical neglect

Tukur Mamu, a defendant facing trial for alleged terrorism offences, has petitioned the Federal High Court in Abuja to transfer him from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) to Kuje Prison.

Mamu’s plea, presented before Justice Inyang Ekwo, is grounded in allegations of medical neglect and a plea for urgent surgical intervention.

At the onset of his trial, Mamu, through his legal representative Abdul Mohammed, asserted that a previous court order granting him access to his personal physician for medical treatment had been flouted by the DSS.

According to Mamu, despite an initial examination and submission of a comprehensive medical report, subsequent access to medical care has been denied, jeopardizing his health and necessitating urgent surgical procedures.

The defendant’s motion on notice, presented by Mohammed, underscored Mamu’s deteriorating health condition and raised concerns over the potential loss of life if adequate medical attention is not
