Aiyedatiwa group fuels 800 Okada in house-to-house campaign

As campaigns heat up ahead of All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election to decide who bears the governorship ticket of the party in Ondo State, the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers Independent Council (LACO-FSIC) has shifted attention to the commoners.

The group while inspecting the ranks of the less-privileged and sampling their opinions on how the state government could improve on their well-being, at Ikare-Akoko in Akoko Northeast, stopped short at some petrol stations and filled up the tanks of over 800 commercial motorcycles, popularly known as Okada.

Addressing settlers in communities such as Ikare, Ugbe, Arigidi, Erusu, Iboropa, and Akunu in a house-to-house campaign programme, the Convener of the LACO-FSIC, Dr. Oladipupo Okeyomi, said Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa wanted to become Governor for the next four years largely to fight poverty through infrastructural development and human empowerment.

“Lucky Aiyedatiwa is from a humble background like you people here. His parents toiled hard to fund his education and he too worked hard to become somebody, and with the grace of God, he is today, the Governor of Ondo State.

“He is not happy seeing graduates and other professionals roaming the streets for lack of job, and that is why he is determined to open up Ondo State to huge foreign investment.

“Any firm investing in our State under Aiyedatiwa must do an undertaking to employ people in the host community and to also embark on corporate social responsibility project to assist the needy in their environs,” Okeyomi, popularly known as Carry Go, informed.

He thanked traditional rulers and their chiefs in Akokoland for sustaining communal harmony and love needed to allow government’s developmental programmes thrive.

He meanwhile, assured farmers in rural areas across the state that the good times are here as the APC administration in the country has started working on necessary infrastructure, for the opening up of Igbokoda seaport in Ondo State.

The seaport operation, Okeyomi noted, would not only empower individuals but also boost Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), through export.
