Abuja warehouse looting beyond hunger, criminal – FCT Minister

Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, on Monday, has described the looting of a warehouse in Gwagwa-Tasha area of the nation’s capital as beyond hunger and criminal in nature.

The Minister stated this at the end of her assessment visit to Gwagwa-Tasha to inspect the level of damage done to the warehouse by the looters.

She noted that what she saw was unfortunate, saying hoodlums carted away all the grains and other food stuff, without sparing even the roofs and fence.

The Minister, who expressed disappointment over the attitude of the youths within the area, however assured that the Administration would establish a police post in all government warehouses across the territory going forward.

She said, ”We are here due to the unfortunate incident that happened early hours of yesterday, where hoodlums attacked this very warehouse and packed everything, including non-food items.

“Not only the food items that are here, including the roofing, windows, and even the gates of this place and offices were all attacked. You can see the level of damage. There is nothing that is left here, including machineries that were used for the processing of these things.”

The Minister said the incident happened when the administration was restocking with a view to meeting up with the directive of President Bola Tinubu to distribute palliatives to all the six area councils in FCT.
