Gunmen have kidnapped a senior official of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Engr Kingsley Okorafor, in Imo State.
Okorafor was reportedly abducted close to his residence in Umuadara Umulogho autonomous community, about three kilometres away from a military checkpoint, Imo State, in the early hours of Saturday.
The incident is yet to be confirmed by the police in the state, but the traditional ruler of the community, Eze Patrick Uwalaka, confirmed the development.
The victim was to have attended a wake keep of late Eze Innocent Anyawu, the traditional ruler of Ndihu autonomous community in Obowo LGA, who will be buried on Saturday (today).
His abductors were said to have trailed after him when he left the vigil to his community.
It was leant that they kidnapped him and left his car.
