Aide to President Muhammadu Buhari on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, suffered a heavy defeat in his quest to become a House of Representatives member.
This was as he scored 16 votes to lose the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary for Gaya/Ajingi/Albasu constituency of Kano State to Mahmud Gaya, who scored 109 votes.
Gaya is the incumbent lawmaker representing Gaya/Ajingi/Albasu constituency of Kano state in the House of Representatives.
Amad was said to have left the venue of the exercise on noticing that he had been defeated.
But the Buhari’s aide, however, later claimed that “as an aspirant, I left the venue of the primary election for Gaya, Ajingi and Albasu Federal Constituency, because of the security of our majority delegates. If you want to compete with the best, thugs shouldn’t be part of any election.”
Replying Ahmad, one Muhd Sani Abdullahi wrote, “It’s so unfortunate but it’s good you experience it. During 2019 inconclusive that was anchored by your superiors, after the Gama scenario, you all are happy.
“Alhamdulillahi with this, I believe you will speak the truth. It’s so unfortunate for the government to give room for thugs. All this is an eye opener for the 2023 election. The opposition has to prepare to overcome such thugs. It happen in 2019 insha Allah it won’t happen come 2023.”
