Police in Adamawa are searching for residents of Dasin Bwate village in Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa State, who deserted their village after killing seven over alleged witchcraft.
The state police spokesman, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, told News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Yola that the incident happened on Tuesday. He said that an investigative team had been deployed to the village.
According to him, “Seven people were killed in Dasin Bwate village in Fufore LGA over witchcraft allegation. The police have deployed an investigation team into the village.”
Nguroje, however, said that at the time the team arrived in the village on Wednesday morning, the residents, including the village head, had fled from the community.
Noting that the team found the seven unidentified corpses in one of the houses in the village, he said no arrest has been made so far because there was nobody in the village.
“We are calling on the neighbouring villages to assist the police with useful information on the whereabouts of the residents of Dasin Bwate,” he added.
