Popular Nollywood actress Mary Remmy Njoku has reacted to the comment by Actors Guild of Nigeria President, Emeka Rollas, that Nollywood is not a dumping ground for Big Brother Naija evictees.
Tega, who was evicted from the Big Brother Naija show on Sunday had said she would now venture into acting.
But Rollas, responding to that, wrote in a post on his Instagram page: “Nollywood! Not a dumping ground for evictees!!! Case closed.”
But Njoku, reacting, said that she strongly disagreed with Rollas. She explained how Nollywood had saved people previously perceived to be unemployable.
She said in a post she shared via her Instagram page, “Nollywood is Nigeria’s no 1 rehabilitation centre. She is indeed a dumping ground to all society rejects. An employer of the unemployable. A shelter to all who have lost their way. A mother to the confused and misunderstood. She doesn’t judge.
“Many of us were unemployable in the society when we joined Nollywood. No degree, no certificates. If not for Nollywood so many people would have committed suicide because of stigmatization and discrimination.”
Another popular Nollywood actor Bolanle Ninalowo, also reacted to Rollas’ comment and slamming him.
‘’This one hit me hard! Oga @emekarollas you wrong for this one baba! Abeg who is Nollywood for?
Maka needs to be enlightened.
