After a miraculous 6-0 win against West Bromwich Albion in Carabao Cup on Wednesday, Arsenal suffered a 5-0 loss to a Manchester City side that produced yet another fantastic display before their fans at the Etihad.
It was a shambolic display from the embattled Mikel Arteta’s men who looked clueless and lacked the vigour to push through the game leading to a humiliating result to a ravaging Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola’s boys scored the first goal with their first attack in the game in the seventh minute after exchanging passes; Gabriel Jesus made a fantastic cross and Gundogan headed the ball to beat Chamberd with a flicky header which went past the helpless Leno.
Five minutes later, Cedric couldn’t deal with a cross from Bernado Silva and it dropped for Ferran Torres who gave the Citizens a comfortable two nil lead. VAR officials sighted an infringement on Chambers and had to review the goal but later concluded the goal should stand.
Xhaka added to Arsenal’s misery as he received a straight red card in the 35th minute after a needless tackle on Ferran Torres. Some sections of Arsenal fans felt they’ve seen enough and were seen leaving the Etihad.
Gabriel Jesus scored the third goal in the 43rd minute after a solo cross from Jack Grealish who is enjoying his new life at City.
After conjuring passes Rodri hits a low shot past Leno in the 52nd minute for the fourth and Ferran Torres crowned the game in the 84th min via an assist from Mahrez.
Gunners now sit at the bottom of the English Premiership League table after losing three successive games for the first time since 1954.
