A joint team of security operatives drawn from the Nigerian Army and the police have launched a manhunt for the killers of the former provost-marshal of the Army, Maj-Gen Hassan Ahmed.
Ahmed was shot dead by suspected bandits in the Abaji area of the Federal Capital Territory on Thursday night.
Earlier it was reported that the assailants, according to family sources, also abducted his wife in the attack, which occured while they were on their way from Okene, Kogi State.
But the Nigerian Army has confirmed that it was Ahmed’s sister, Safina who was kidnapped.
It was gathered from impeccable military sources that the joint intelligence team had since begun both overt and covert operations at the scene where Maj-Gen Ahmed was killed on Thursday.
Meanwhile, a former Director of Public Relations of the Nigerian Army, Brig-Gen Sani Usman (rtd), has said that those behind the general’s killing won’t go unpunished.
Usman said no matter how long the Killers run, the arms of the law would eventually catch up with them.
He said, “It is not just the Nigerian Army, this is somebody that was a Major General in the Nigerian Army, a serving one.
“So, it is not just about the Nigerian Army or the Armed Forces, but it is about the nation.
“And I can tell you, no stone will be left unturned for those who had hand in his murder.
“The killers would be tracked, arrested and be brought to justice.”
