Current Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has signed a two-year extension contract with Chelsea, following his exploits with the English club at the just concluded season.
Tuchel, who was sacked by Paris-Saint Germain on Christmas Eve, guided Chelsea to win the Champions League trophy after beating Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City 1-0 in the final.
The 47-year-old German arrived at Stamford Bridge in January, replacing club legend, Frank Lampard as head coach on an initial 18-month deal with the possibility of an extension.
He has now signed a two-year deal that will see him manage the club till June 2024 after the extension has been granted.
Tuchel said, “I cannot imagine a better occasion for a contract renewal. I am grateful for the experience and very happy to stay part of the Chelsea family.
“There is far more to come and we are looking forward to our next steps with ambition and much anticipation.”
