All Progressives Congress’ governors may have begun moves to save the embattled Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki.
Already, the APC governors have scheduled a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari over the Edo State APC governorship primary crisis.
It was gathered that the APC governors would seek Buhari’s intervention in the crisis, which had led to the disqualification of the Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, from the state June 22 APC primary election in the state.
But just as the APC governors were preparing to meet President Buhari, embattled Governor Obaseki on Sunday held separate meetings with the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, and his Akwa Ibom State counterpart, Udom Emmanuel.
Last Friday, the screening committee set up by the party’s National Working Committee disqualified Obaseki and the appeal panel upheld the disqualification.
The screening committee said it disqualified Obaseki because of contradictions in his credentials.
It was learnt on Sunday that the APC governors would be meeting with Buhari as part of the efforts to save the embattled Edo governor.
Meanwhile the APC governors have expressed confidence that the party would resolve its current internal challenges and come of out stronger.
This was contained in a communiqué issued on Sunday, after an emergency Teleconference meeting on Saturday.
The communiqué which was signed by the chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, Abubakar Bagudu, said the meeting was held to discuss issues around preparations for the Edo and Ondo states APC governorship primary as well as the forthcoming elections in both states.
